Meet Jim

My name is Jim Brown and I’m on a mission to help people get healthier and happier.  I’m 68 years old and I live in Austin, Texas with my wife Jude.  I worked in sales and sales management for years and I took my health for granted. I worked too many hours, slept too few, worried too much about sales numbers that were a constantly moving target, and convinced myself that I was eating healthy and that my back and neck pain were just normal fallout from a long-ago car wreck.

That feels like another lifetime ago.  The company I was with got bought, I got laid off and found out that I had heart disease all within a couple of months of each other.  At first I was pissed, but pretty soon I figured out that it was more of a blessing than a curse.

Finding out that I had heart disease made me reexamine my “healthy” diet and led to my introduction to the Paleo diet.  It’s pretty safe to say that changing my diet saved my life.

I’ve been eating Paleo, Primal or Keto ever since.  I’ve also changed how I look at sleep, exercise and nutrition and I feel better than I’ve felt in years.  A Balanced You is about what I’ve learned along that journey.
